Religious Identity Negotiation in Japanese-Indonesian Intermarriage

This research is qualitative using a life story approach. The informants of this study were seven Indonesian Muslim women and one Christian who married Japanese man living in Japan. analyzes how religious identity negotiated the marriages men women. previous three people Indonesia. prior indicates that all husbands follow religion their wives. finds husbands, before marriage, Still, after some continue to informant's religion, while others return religion. Seven kept but person converted husband. Two entered with different religions. One informant did not want her husband's had severe conflict because intervention mother-in-law. Husbands generally do question wives, disputes arise cases where adhere particular wife's family several families also intervened negotiations. change marriage initially more consideration for smooth running process. Research on intermarriages between Indonesians minimal. like needs be done number increasing. brings valuable knowledge prospective intermarriages.
